Delegate at Large A: Annette E. Craycraft Executive Director East Central Indiana CASA, Inc.
Annette Craycraft is currently the Executive Director of East Central Indiana CASA, Inc., a non-profit agency serving children who are abused and neglected. Ms. Craycraft has previously worked in various capacities at the Indiana State House, including the Indiana General Assembly in the House of Representatives and the Indiana Senate, the Indiana Election Commission, and as a Special Assistant to the late Governor Frank O’Bannon. Prior to coming to East Central Indiana CASA, Inc., she was the Executive Director for the Indiana Commission for Women. While at the Commission, she was an advisor to the Governor and Legislature on various issues pertaining to women and families, administered the women’s health grant program and created the Indiana Torchbearer Awards for Women.
She is a graduate of Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in both Political Science and History, with a minor in Japanese and Peace Studies/Conflict Mediation. She is actively involved with many local and state organizations and serves on several statewide and local community boards and task forces. Annette serves on the Open Door Health Services Board of Directors, where she served as Chair for 4 years, and she serves on the ACYCP Board of Directors. She serves on the Guardian Scholars Advisory Board at Ball State University, is an elected Commission Member to the Indiana State GAL/CASA Commission at the Indiana Supreme Court where she chairs the Statewide Legislative and Public Relations Committee. She is the former long-serving Chair of the Indiana Public Radio/WIPB-TV Advisory Board that serves the East Central Indiana region. She was also active with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Indiana, serving on their Board of Directors and serving as a mentor for over 12 years. She was a founding board member of Hoosier Women Forward and Women in Philanthropy. She has served as Vice Chair of Intersect, Inc. in Anderson, and on the Board of Directors for the Young Anderson Ballet. Annette also chaired the United Way Certified Agency Council for several years.
Ms. Craycraft also chairs the Madison County Child Protection Team and the Madison County Trauma Team. She is a Representative on the DCS Regional Services Council for this region.
For her work in the community, Ms. Craycraft has received several awards and honors. She was awarded a Sagamore of the Wabash from Governor Joseph E. Kernan. In 2007 she was given the Indiana Women of Achievement Award for Distinction in Advocacy for Women from Ball State University, and has also been honored with the Above and Beyond Award from Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Ms. Craycraft was honored as the CASA Executive Director of the Year for the State of Indiana by the Indiana Supreme Court/State Court Administration in 2018. In 2019, she was chosen as the Athena International Award winner for Madison County after being honored with a Community Shining Star Award in 2017, 2016 and 2015. Annette is a member of the Anderson Rotary Club, Muncie Tri Kappa, and the Delta Delta Delta Indianapolis Alumni Association. In 2020, Annette was honored to be a fellow in the Indiana Journey Fellowship for Youth Worker Executives.
