Second Vice-President: Janet Wakefield, CYC-P
Janet Wakefield, CYC-P, is the Chief Exploration Officer for the Journey Fellowship, a set of programs for current and prospective youth workers in Indiana exploring meaning and renewal in the field of youth work. In addition to the Journey Fellowships, Janet has co-created innovative professional’s development opportunities such as the International Youth Worker Exchange and the International Youth Worker Symposium on the Sea which was selected to receive the 2015 Martha Mattingly Scholarship for innovative professional development. Janet is an advocate for the youth worker and growing the field of youth development so it can become a more recognized and appreciated field.
Janet holds a M.A. in Executive Development and a B.A. in Social Work. She is an experienced trainer and consultant who focuses her work in the areas of organizational and personal renewal, youth leadership and community youth development, heart-spirit-community connections, organizational development, board development, human resource development, balancing work and family, strengthening school/community relations, parenting education, and conference/retreat planning.
Janet is also a writer and curriculum designer. She has co-authored the following curricula: Trustee Education, Youth As Trustees, Youth In Governance, Youth As Philanthropists, and The Word for Me Is Philanthropy. Janet also authored a children’s book entitled What If Everybody Gave? She developed the “Renewal of Organizational Life” guide and assisted in the design of the Jefferson Center for Nonprofits' book, Leadership Partners.
Janet is the 2019 winner of the ACYCP Lifetime Achievement Award.
